Modern Minds Academy is the leading private school in Trinidad and Tobago for academics, sports and adventure!
The academy started as a part – time lessons center in 2007 by our Managing Director, Mrs. Leela Balkaran.
Presently we offer CXC (CSEC and CAPE) to Forms 1-5, Private candidates, Repeat students and Adult learners . SEA classes are also available to standard four and five. Exam preparation is available as online classes or physical classes at our location in Princes Town.
We have the best homeschooling program (full – time online classes) available in Trinidad and Tobago. This program offers parents an alternative to public and private secondary schools for a low cost, quality education.
It doesn’t end there! Our professional coaching program in the area of football and cricket also allows students to get proper strength training, techniques, conditioning, mentoring and put them on the right track as an extra curricular or career.

Balkaran
Mrs. Balkaran started her teaching journey more than 10 years ago. She has served as a tutor and vice-principal for more than eight (8) years at a private institution before launching Modern Minds Academy.
One of the main factors Modern Minds Academy was started is because Mrs. Balkaran believes all students deserves a quality education at an affordable cost!
The homeschooling program at the academy has helped and continue to help so many children who cannot afford to go to school, sick children that cannot attend a physical school and special needs children that will not the needed attention in a government school.
Mrs. Balkaran holds a Bachelor’s in Education, she is a proud Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) graduate, placing third in her cohort’s pitch deck competition hosted by the US Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago. She is also one of only eight entrepreneurs chosen from Trinidad and Tobago to participate and graduate from the 100 million learners initiative. She has a wealth of experience in administration and in the classroom. Mrs. Balkaran has helped hundreds of students in her career thus far and is one of the most understanding, compassionate tutors you will ever meet.
